Bob Hamm’s Memorial Pictures
Bob Hamm
My father passed away last night around 9am. I hope everyone will keep him in your prayers. We will miss him so much.
Kurt
Hello world!
“Between the red hills of North Louisiana and the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, lives the Cajun. Among the marshes and the bayous, the tall oaks and the whispering moss, he carries on the traditions of his hardy Nova Scotian ancestors, les Acadiens, whose flight from persecution brought them to the lush South Louisiana soil over two centuries ago.”
– What is a Cajun?
In 1972, these words sparked an enduring love affair between the Cajun people and Bob Hamm. No author prior to his work or since has so successfully captured the essence of the culture and the people of this fascinating part of Louisiana. This essay, and others, have been published in numerous books and magazines and is regularly included in local crafts.
Bob Hamm’s body of work also includes such definitive classics as “A Cajun Prayer”, “A Cajun Toast”, and “A Cajun Blessing”. These well loved poems capture the history, flair, and flavor of Cajun life and celebrate the people who live it.
Bob Hamm is also a humorous speaker and writer who was described by the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate Newspaper as “the foremost commentator on the Cajun way of life.” He is a former radio and television news director and newspaper and magazine editor with a host of awards for excellence in journalism and creative writing. He also serves as a writer and PR consultant for business and industry.
Bob Hamm’s new book, “Cajun Nursery Rhymes Book II” is now available. It is another of Bob’s Cajun Classics. Bob’s first book of Cajun Nursery Rhymes was purchased by thousands of fans of Bob’s richly humorous writing style. The new book IS EVEN FUNNIER!
